Job Description
We are in search of hard-working and motivated FIB Engineers / Clean Room Process Engineers to develop leading-edge AFM optical probe technology solutions in a challenging and fast-paced environment. BS, MS, and PhD (EE, ME, ChE, Physics, Chemistry, Optical Science and Material Science) are sought to work on fabrication, design, research and development and commercialization of special AFM / NSOM probes to do AFM and Optical Spectroscopy on single molecular level.
An ideal candidate will be able to fabricate AFM probes and / or diode lasers from a special wafer material using Focused Ion Beam (FIB), and other clean room equipment. The Optical AFM probe fabrication will require skills in Optical Lithography (including mask design), dry and wet etching, metal evaporation (or spattering) and SEM. Scanning Electron Lithography (including mask design) and its combination with contact optical lithography is a plus. In this position you will be responsible for
design and fabrication and testing state of the art optical AFM probes which allow simultaneous AFM and Optical Microscopy instruments for atomic force microscopy.
Projects may involve all aspects of product or process design, development, and sustaining. Optical lab and especially ultra-fast laser experience is a plus.
We would like to hear from a resourceful problem solver with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical issues through the implementation of practical solutions to complicated problems.
This position may require problem solving skills during customer on-site visits to understand customer problems. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a plus.
The position is located at our laboratory facilities on the south campus of the University Of New Mexico (UNM) and Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies(CINT), Albuquerque, New Mexico. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelors, Masters or PhD in (EE, ME, ChE, Physics, Chemistry, Optical Science and Material Science).
- Ability to legally work in the U.S.
- Prior experience with optics, lasers, optical spectroscopy and microscopy, AFM is a plus.
- Ability to manage /complete multiple projects simultaneously and successfully.
- Strong attention to details.
